Audrey Behan

Audrey is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London and University College Dublin, where she was awarded an M.A. in Modern Theatre and Performance Theory. Her career in Speech and Drama has lasted a lifetime and began at the tender age of fiveyears when she won 1st prize for Verse Speaking at Dublin’s Feis Maitiu!

Audrey is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London and University College Dublin, where she was awarded an M.A. in Modern Theatre and Performance Theory. Her career in Speech and Drama has lasted a lifetime and began at the tender age of five years when she won 1st prize for Verse Speaking at Dublin’s Feis Maitiu!

An experienced performer, her skills embrace theatre, musicals and film work. For more than 30 years Audrey has taught all aspects of the work in private practice, and at Primary, Secondary and Third Level Education. She has worked extensively with teachers and her penchant for Shakespeare brought her skills and expertise to practitioners and students from all over Ireland. She actively promoted the art of Choral Verse in schools and won many accolades for her work in this area. She ran a successful private practice for a great many years where her students pursued careers in the theatrical, educational and media spheres.

An Adjudicator for more than twenty-five years, Audrey is a member of the British and International Federation of Adjudicators and has fulfilled engagements throughout Ireland, the UK, Sri Lanka and Hong Kong.She is an Examiner for Speech & Drama with the Royal Irish Academy of Music and held the post of Chief Examiner for a number of years. Her work in these areas takes her the length and breadth of Ireland and beyond.

Audrey firmly believes participation in a Festival offers the ideal platform for the young performer to improve their presentation skills, gain confidence in performing and to learn from watching and listening to others.
